Is it finally time for you to treat yourself to a romantic glamping experience? I think so! That's exactly why I'm going to tell you all about my recent stay in The Treehouse at Burtree Country House & Retreat.
Nestled beneath the trees in a secluded spot on the Burtree estate, this incredible treehouse offers you a touch of luxury which truly epitomises the term glamping. Boasting a double bed and a set of bunkbeds, it is the ideal destination for a couple or even a small family. The interior decor is charmingly rustic but don't be fooled, this hideaway is a little more upmarket than most! You'll remember that when you spot the freshly cut flowers, L'Occitane toiletries, and when you lay on the bed and melt into the top quality mattress and pillows. I PROMISE you that you'll have the most incredible night's sleep. What I'd give to be back in that bed!
There's no such thing as 'roughing it' at Burtree so you can expect running water ready for a piping hot shower in the morning AND a flushing toilet - hallelujah!
The Treehouse is also equipped with a kitchenette complete with a hob, toaster, kettle, microwave AND coffee maker. Don't forget you're on holiday though and nothing screams staycation like a good old British BBQ! Why not sit out on the decking and eat food fresh from the grill?
You might have noticed the robes on the bed. Though you could wear these fresh from the shower, it's probably more desirable to wear them to and from your very own hot tub and fire pit. We spent the evening soaking up the bubbles as the fairy lights twinkled around us and the sheep bleated in the nearby fields. Of course, we opted for a drink (or two) in the hot tub to really help us to relax. When we ran out of our own ciders, the staff were more than happy for us to pop to the little bar and purchase more which we were allowed to take back to The Treehouse. Nothing is too much for Dawn and her team, from the moment you arrive you'll feel like one of the family.
It's after dark when this place's beauty is truly elevated to something out of this world. Though the sights of the North Yorkshire countryside might become hazy, the peaceful sound of the sheep nestling up for the evening and the wind bristling against the trees transports you into the most relaxed state of being.

We kept saying just how relaxing the experience was and were so grateful to finally have some peace and quiet after a few busy weeks juggling work with lots of big events and occasions!
Despite spending every evening together now we live in our first home, there was something very different and very refreshing about being away in such an idyllic spot. We could truly reconnect and get away from the stresses and strains that domestic life throws at us.
Our privacy was totally protected out here, we didn't see another person unless we ventured towards the house! Despite being accommodating, the staff are happy to let you do your own thing and won't get involved with your stay until you need them to.

After a wonderful seven hour sleep, we awoke bright and early as the sun began to creep through the clouds. I went straight outside and enjoyed my morning coffee while I overlooked the sheep nibbling on grass and roaming about the field - talk about setting me up for a successful day! Just in the distance I could see the Kilburn White Horse which is ideal for any ramblers who fancy a trek out, however, Joe and I weren't up to that so instead explored the town centre.
Thirsk is a quaint market town with a few independent shops, bars and cafes. If you like a chain then don't fear, the town centre has a Wetherspoons watering hole and close-by you've got some of the big-brand supermarkets too. We popped to Monk Park Farm and fed the animals here before having a yummy lunch at Thirsk Garden Centre. For less than £10 each we also took in some culture and explored Thirsk Hall's Sculpture Park!
If you're seeking thrills then take a trip to Light Water Valley, for a day at the seaside you can check out Scarborough, or choose between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors - both of which are closeby- for the range of walks and hikes on offer.
You have to say goodbye to The Treehouse by 11am on your day of departure. It's not easy to walk away from, trust me!
We returned home feeling renewed and ready to face the week ahead... However, I think we're arguably more ready to return to Burtree for another exciting experience in the future! We know that Dawn and the team are working on the installation of a glamping pod so you can stargaze through the night, this is RIGHT up our street and we can't wait to visit once it's ready for us.
We hope that you will consider booking a stay at Burtree and especially at The Treehouse. I have already had one of my work colleagues reach out to me having seen the photographs I have shared from my experience and I really hope she manages to secure a date here because I know first-hand the benefits you receive from such a special trip.
In the interest of full disclosure I do want to mention that we were fortunate enough to spend an evening here at a reduced price due to my social media work. This followed my last set of posts about our stay in The White Horse Suite. However, you can trust that all opinions are my own! I will continue to support Dawn's business and really hope you choose to as well.
